The board of directors of HPKM comprises of Dr. Hiew Boon Thong and Mr. Ng Chiun Cheh, both of them are the founders of the company. Dr. Hiew Boon Thong is the managing director of the company who owns majority shares of HPKM.
Both directors are very experienced and well versed in the oil palm and coconut operations. Particularly the Managing Director Dr. Hiew Boon Thong, who with his personal charisma and knowledge has led and guided the management team to build consensus, facilitate collective decision-making, and create and foster an environmental of respect, trust and teamwork in the company, and thereby gradually bringing great success to the company.

1. Career in the Royal Malaysian Police Force:
   • Dr. Hiew served in the Royal Malaysian Police force for over 36 years, reaching the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). His dedicated service to the nation was marked by exceptional performance, earning him numerous awards and recognition.
2. Awards and Accolades:
   • Throughout his police career, Dr. Hiew was honored with several Service Medals, Letters of Commendation, and the Excellent Service Award in 2008 from the Inspector General of Police, recognizing his outstanding service to the country.
3. Leadership in the Corporate World:
   • After retiring from the police force, Dr. Hiew transitioned into the corporate sector, assuming the role of Managing Director for two successful local oil palm companies: Happy Plantations (Sandakan) Sdn Bhd and Happy Plantations (Kota Marudu) Sdn Bhd. His leadership and business expertise were key to the success of these enterprises.

Religious and Social Contributions:

Dr. Hiew’s commitment to the community extends beyond his professional career. For over 40 years, he has been actively involved in religious and social activities, particularly in promoting Buddhism.

1. Buddhist Activities:
   • He organized numerous large-scale Buddhist events, including the Buddha Day (Wesak Day) celebrations in Sabah, which have greatly benefited the local community by fostering spiritual awareness and unity.
2. Leadership in Buddhist Organizations:
   • Dr. Hiew is the Founder and current Chairman of five Buddhist associations, including the Sabah Amitabha Society and four Guang Hao Buddhist Societies in Malaysia. For over 25 years, he has played a pivotal role in promoting Buddhist teachings, spiritual growth, and community service.
